(late) new year updates

2026 feb 1

what's new with the site? current main projects:
  1. set up ocs profiles
  2. digital sketchbook
  3. weekly game journal entries

lots of stuff to talk about in this post, it seems! that's what happens when i get too lazy to write one of these for a month, lol. let's begin:

first, some minor changes around the site. swapped some colors in the vg review section of the site -- the whole thing's design needs an overhaul, i feel like, but for now, i've hopefully made entries a little more legible. also changed icons signifying stories / universes for OCs to be actual icons instead of emojis -- i got the win11 emoji update & realized i needed to make their aesthetics universal, rather than relying on people's operating systems hahaha. also updated some other little things here & there ... blah blah ...

moving on to the new stuff. i made an art recap for the first time in my life, which was indulgent but nice! as my relationship to my art becomes more casual, i feel like i can look at it & discuss it more openly, so i took the end of the year to do just that.

i also wrote up a beginner's guide to making characters in elden ring. i was inspired because some friends agreed to run a co-op campaign with me ( my dream come true!!! though we still haven't started yet ... ) and i thought it would be helpful to give them something to chew on prior to us actually starting the game. all of them love TTRPGs, so i used that as my angle to draw them in -- it's not a guide on how to Get Good or minmax or whatever, it's a guide for making a character & letting the events of the game further inspire that character.
i had an amazing time writing it, because i don't really get to info dump like that about interests ... so even if it's not saying anything new, i'm proud of it & happy lol ... check it out if you're curious.

and now the ACTUAL most important part of this update ... i made a webring for artists! specifically, it's a webring for people who have galleries on their websites of art they make. any kinda art, not just drawing. i kept looking around for something like this, as i really wanted to browse around & find new artists here on The Indie Web, but it seems nothing like it existed ... so i made it ...
i hate putting myself out there lmao, so PLEASE!!! if you or someone you know has a gallery of stuff they've made on their personal site, take a look & consider joining! more than anything i've made, i'd like to see this take off & be successful. i adore stumbling onto someone's gallery & poking around it, so i hope this webring helps other people do the same!

and that's kinda it. arm's hurting, so let's wrap this up!

what's new with me?

eh, same ol' same old. pain's been exceptional lately ( i've not really been able to take an extended break long enough to heal ) and we had multiple extremely expensive house dilemmas happen all at once, but things are alright.

it's a continued privilege to run this site & live as comfortably as i do. i'm sure you've heard about the kidnappings happening in the USA right now, which i won't lecture about -- if you live here, you already know what to do; if you don't live here, it's not your problem but please don't let these things happen where you live either. it's a wicked time all around the globe, so if you have the safety to do so, continue to try & make change in your communities ( or try to get started, if you haven't ) and lend support where you can ... i'm an anxious coward, but i'll still do what i can when i can.

take it easy & be safe, everyone!
