what's new with me?
today's entry is going to be another quick one. apologies for a lack of updates, but life has been hectic! it's settling down soon though, so ... i'm hoping i can
actually get to work on my site again then.
first things first: my mental health has been on a downward trend recently. this has made doing things difficult, including engaging in hobbies ( like the website ) or doing work on our house; this of course spirals into itself, thus making things worse & causing the rut to feel impossible to escape ... but i think i've managed to get a foothold despite it. currently i just feel exhausted ... and it isn't helping that i'm also feeling overwhelmed by all the work we still have to do, but i'm trying to keep a level-headed perspective & not letting my misery-inclined mind run rampant. but again, things should be settling down around here soon, and once i feel more rested, i can find my spark again & get back to work.
in other news, i had a long-time friend ( who i also haven't seen in a long time ) come stay with us for the week recently. we had to bust our asses trying to get our once-workshop-now-little-detached-spare-bedroom-thing in working order ( and of course, at the last minute, we noticed another problem we didn't have time to fix ) but i feel it worked out in the end. both my partner & i are not the most social people, so even 1-day meet-ups with friends can be draining; imagine how crazy a whole week of hosting felt! it was worth it though, of course -- we all had a fun time -- but i do feel bad that i couldn't bring much energy to our reunion. my social supply dried up so quick ... :')
it had been such a long time since i'd hung out with anyone in real life, i almost forgot how to, like, chill out with a friend, hahahah! such are the consequences of all my friends living out of state & country ...
what else? well, my cats are doing well -- toulie is 11lbs & turns 7 months old today, while lautie has been fluxuating between 8~9lbs at a little over 1 & 1/2 years old, both healthy, active girls; the weather has hit a summer stride of high 70's & smoke from wildwfires, which has been rather unpleasant, but honestly our summer weather hasn't been the worst this year; my physical health is wishy-washy ( easily exhausted, body is nearly always in pain in some way, wrist-arm-nerve-damage issue still present ) but i'm trying to be consistent about taking care of it with nutrients & scheduled daily exercise, so i'm also trying not to indulge in paranoia about the whole thing; aaaaand i finally started the
elden ring DLC! well. i started the playthrough for it. but i forgot how great this game really is ... a true pinnacle of fromsoft game design, featuring satisfying, heart-racing fights that feel like a dance, and also just immeasurable, soul-crushing, hair-pulling bullshit agony simultaneously. nobody else is doing it like them, it must be said.
and that's probably it for today. not much to say, just wanted to pop in & update on why i haven't been working on the site, despite really wanting to. looking forward to seeing you all again soon, hopefully next time with more exciting things to share! take it easy everyone.
