what's new with the site? current main projects:
  1. set up art page
  2. set up ocs profiles
  3. weekly game journal entries

hello again! i've come with some minor but exciting updates today. namely, i finally built & converted the main site's sidebar navigation into javascript; this means that i no longer have to manually update every single page anytime i want to add / remove / rename a link, i just add it in the js file & it updates everything automatically. i've wanted to do this for a long time, but because of my pitiful js skills, i couldn't even begin visualizing how to execute it. but i sat down & did it, and fortunately, from research start to implementation, it only took a few hours ... not bad at all, for a total rookie like me! ( i did get some help from well, of course. but i figured out the basic structure on my own! teehee! )

as well, i separated the contact info from the about page onto its own section of the site. this is, obviously, more intuitive & easier to navigate; i've wanted this for a while as well, but was also overcome by dread for the process. this one truly was a breeze though, not sure why it took me this long to do it!

as for immediate plans ... it's been a while since i could write a new game review, but i'm hoping to get back into doing one a week again soon. as well, i may try to whip up a commission info page, as i've gotten a few requests lately. ( thank you, by the way, if you're one of the folks to reach out! i'll have a tidier system for requesting stuff soon, i promise! )

what's new with me?

well ... i'm back. hopefully. i've been in the process of moving, unpacking, and all the other bureaucratic nonsense required to settle in to a new home. i love it here; although we've only been here a week, i'm feeling much more welcomed & at peace in this area than i was in any of the previous spaces we've occupied. we still have some stuff we need to do back at our old rental, so we aren't done yet ... but we're very close! i'm looking forward to FINALLY leaving that place behind, and being able to put my energy into doing work on our new home! and on my damn website!!

on that note, i'm afraid but excited at the prospect of being a homeowner. particularly, the amount of work we have to do around the place to maintain it is going to be new ( or otherwise forgotten ) to me, so i'm trying not to get overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done. our first week here, and we already had a pest problem with sugar ants & hornets ... we had to go around the entire house knocking down nests ( ;w; ) ... i've lived in cities for so long, i forgot how much of a problem those guys can be. i don't want to keep killing yellowjackets, so i'm going to start looking up more peaceful ways of dealing with them. and same with the ants, i'd love to kill as little buggies as possible while also keeping a comfortable, clean home.
we got a yard to mow ... we got flowers & plants to feed ... we got electrical problems to fix, cracks to caulk, trees to trim ... so much to do!!! but i'm grateful we even have the opportunity to do it. :D i'm happy to labor away as best i can, if it means never being some bozo landlord's investment pawn ever again.

anyway! a health update. i'm having ups & downs, and progress is going slow. the biggest problem for me is being able to rest properly. i push myself too much, going from 0 to 100 as soon as i feel like i can do something. i need to take baby steps ... but it's so hard! i hate sitting & doing nothing, or doing only a little bit of something even if i think i can do more, but know i shouldn't ... egh. another problem is that i am lacking strength due to sitting around doing fuck all, which makes trying to jump back into Work As Normal even more difficult. another reason to take baby steps. i hate it!!!!!!!!!

but my spirits are rising, so this pain & downtime isn't as agonizing as it has been the past year or two. :-)

so ... maybe that's it for now. i've already done a bit too much this week, and typing up a big fat blog post probably wasn't the wisest decision. but just know, i'm doing alright! and i hope y'all have been too. i'll be updating stuff as i can. take it easy folks, and i'll see ya when i see ya!
