big update: aesthetic polish, new feature implimentation, & more

2023 sept 7

what's new with the site?

there's lots to talk about in today's entry! i've been tinkering hard, so i hope you enjoy what i've got done so far.

for starters, i cleaned up and unified the site's general aesthetics -- logos, icons, text; you name it, i done it! hopefully the site is more visually pleasing, as well as easier to read and navigate. there's more to do, but this is the direction i'd like to go in, and i'm happy with it so far! what do you think? :D

i've added plenty of new pages and features as well. here's a quick overview of what i've been working on: i've decided to implement some javascript to make updating certain pages easier on my end ( like the OCs page, or the gacha ). i'll try to keep its involvement here at a minimum, though, just so loading pages doesn't become too jarring.

still not ready to make my landing page functional ... but i'm getting really close!!

what's new with me?

erm ... not much here, i don't think. celebrated my partner of seven ( ?!? ) years' birthday at the end of august, which was great ... uh ... worked on me website ...

hmm ... how about the weather? the temperature is falling where i live, and i can't properly express how happy i am to finally be welcoming fall back. summer wasn't the worst this year, but it is, of course, always worse than it should be, these days ... i've never enjoyed it, but it's becoming harder to tolerate, the older i get. putting those feelings behind me though! i am energized, now that autumn is here!! i love the cooler months ...

what else? well ... i'm still making my way through tears of the kingdom, with lots of other games i'd like to play and replay patiently waiting in line. like many folks, i'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into baldur's gate 3 -- i have considered tackling the first two games, but heard they were too esoteric and decided against it. now that 3 is here and is looking to be more accessible to newbies and pros alike, i'm once again enticed by the idea of playing dnd without actually having to play dnd. hahah.
funnily enough, elden ring fulfilled that craving i'd been having a bit ago: i enjoy building characters mechanically and conceptually, but really struggle with real-time roleplay, so TTRPGs are kind of inaccessible to me, even if they sound fun ... so a video game that gives you a quiet protagonist like fromsoft's RPGs to project personality & motivations onto, but gives you a TON of character customization options when it comes to their build, really made me feel the joy of playing dnd again. i'm hoping bg3 will also be able to satisfy this craving of mine, as well!! if not ... well ... guess i'll just have to replay elden ring again ... ( reader's note: she is excited to play elden ring again )

but ... yeah. that's kind of it. i don't do a lot ... i live a boring life ... but that's how i like it. working on this neocities has been a very fun side project for me, so ... here's to the joy of self-indulgent web design; may it someday bring you as much joy as it's bringing me now.

til next time!
