carmen portrait

standard portrait for carmen. her design has eluded me for many, many years ... but i decided to put my foot down & just go with something, as i wanted to add her to artfight before the event started this year.

the challenge with her design i think mostly comes from me wanting her to be Generically Pirate-themed, while also being distinct enough to be recognizable ... she's a very, very unique individual in her canon, but she also doesn't really enjoy being venerated or otherwise put in the spotlight, so there's a delicate balance to be sought here to elegantly marry all these ideas. i think she's alright for now, but i will further refine her design with time i'm sure.
